So, 62nd Annual Tony Awards were tonight.... so what does that mean? The Tony Party. And what does that generally mean? Drama. Of more than one kind.
First of all, Patti LuPone wins... AGAIN... really? For a show that was just revived a few years back. And In the Heights won for Best Musical? Really? But then again, considering that the nominees for that category were all pretty lack-luster, I guess it was the lesser of the evils. It truly was a year of revivals, and great ones at that. South Pacific - words can't express my love. Sunday in the Park with George - ah-mazingness. Gypsy - eh, could've lived without Patti LuPone in it with her billion and a half curtain calls, but whatev. Fingers crossed for a better season next year.
Second, Can't we all just be friends and get along? Do we really have to participate in middle school drama? AND people who have never seen the Tony Awards before have No authority to say anything to anyone... you have No idea what you're talking about. Thanks, but sit down and shut up. If we want your opinion we will ask for it, but we don't, and so we won't. Also, murmuring under your breath? Really? We're not stupid, we can hear you... and we're still not impressed. Please note: the party was much better AFTER you left, and thanks for that.
Overall, it was a learning experience. I learned that: Jon would make an attractive UPS Guy. Trevor gets a little over-excited when it comes to hot, openly gay musical theatre actors. Patti LuPone wins Tony Awards simply for showing up. Clara requires costume changes mid-Tonys. And there is always that one person in every group that no one really likes.
